A new Ys X: Nordics English-language trailer has been released, showing off two of the game's central gameplay mechanics.

Unfortunately, just like the last English trailer, this doesn't mean a Western release date for Ys X: Nordics has been confirmed, but we can at least still admire how the combat and exploration look.

The new trailer is devoted to showing off two core systems: Cross Action and Mana Action.

Cross Action allows you to take control of Adol and Karja either separately or together during battle; Solo Mode lets you switch between them, while Dual Mode has you playing as both simultaneously.

Different moves are available to you depending on which setup you choose, so you'd better make sure you approach each battle strategically.

The second "Action" the new trailer demonstrates is "Mana Action", which the developers describe as "a mysterious power and key to the story".

Mana Action allows you to use a "flashy effect" to attack enemies with Adol and Karja in tandem. This effect triggers when you automatically evade an attack or use Just Guard "against a specific enemy".

You can also use Mana Action to swing between grapple points while exploring, and it's also useful for moving objects and flipping switches while you're in dungeons.

The trailer also shows off something rather amusingly called the "Grimble Board", which lets you cross terrain at "exhilarating speeds". It's kind of a magical surfboard-slash-snowboard, which, frankly, there aren't enough of in gaming.

Finally, we get a look at the Burst effect, which lets you charge and release bursts of energy. You can switch between Fire and Ice elements depending on what the situation demands.

Ys X: Nordics is currently slated for a Japanese release on September 28th. The game will also support Traditional Chinese and Korean languages, but there's no word of a Western release date or an English localization yet.
